The SR-72 Hypersonic reconnaissance aircraft is mainly used to replace the SR-71 Blackbird high speed high alititude reconnaissance aircraft developed in the 1970's. The SR-72 can reach speeds of Mach 6 (twice the speed of the Blackbird and faster than common missiles), making it the fastest aircraft in history. Due to its hypersonic speed advantage, modern air defense missile systems such as Russia's S-400 and China's Hongoi-9 cannot intercept this aircraft.
